Watford Joggers
A.G.M. 25th of April 2002 : Attended by approximately 30 members

The evening started with a presentation to the Peace Hospice.    Jill Crowson received on behalf of the hospice a cheque for £568 pounds, being monies raised at Watford Jogger events.   Jill gave a talk about the funding of the hospice and then departed.

Following the apologies for absence, review of last years minutes and matters arising from those minutes, came the officer's reports.
Harvey thanked the committee for their work during the past year, and announced that he was stepping down as chairman.    He proposed that the incoming chairman be given an annual expenditure allowance of £50, this was passed by those at the meeting.    He also presented a trophy known as the Bovingdon bash to Julie Al-Zoubi.    It was the first time for about ten years that this trophy has been awarded and goes to a female member of the club who has shown great improvement during the last year.    The remaining officers then gave their reports and with them three more resignations, Bryan Taylor, John O'Connor and Julie Al-Zoubi.   Andy Lord resigned from his post as joint newsletter editor, but was happy to stay on the committee.

In the election of new officers Colin Taylor stood for chairman and was elected unanimously.    I was elected as vice chairman, and Sue Kirby was elected to the committee and into the role of secretary in her absence.    Sue had stated prior to the meeting that she would be happy to take this position on.    In addition to Sue, Julie Talbot, Linda Hinshelwood & Malcolm Shutt were elected to the committee for the first time, the posts of Mens captain and social secretary remain vacant.

Colin's first act as chairman was to suggest that Harvey be made president of the club, it was agreed by those present that Harvey be offered this honoury role.    Harvey happily accepted, and Julie Al-Zoubi presented him with a rose bush, which will hopefully produce red and white roses at sometime in the future.

Any other business was brief, but to outline a few items raised: -
Coaching - Dick & Ross have been on a coaching course, and further members are likely to be going soon.
Kit - We have new mens vests now in stock, made of a softer material.
Dublin - Heather Mitchell has volunteered to coordinate a trip to Dublin in October.
Social Events - In the absence of a social secretary, Colin suggested that each of the committee organise an event during the coming months.
Running Shops - Outlets of Runners World and Sweatshop give a 10% reduction to club members who produce their membership cards.
Next committee meeting 9th of May.

Meeting closed at 9pm
